The Supplementary Information allows the authors to include some contents that are related to the finding in the main text but cannot be placed in the main text, due to the space limitation or media (e.g. video files). Note that the main text itself should be complete so that the readers can understand the research findings of
the main text, even without the Supplementary Information.
During the peer review, the Supplementary Information will be sent to reviewers along with the main text. After the acceptance, the Supplementary Information will not be copy-edited by PIER. Moreover, once the paper is formally published, any modification on the Supplementary Information requires a formal correction. As such, the authors should prepare the Supplementary Information in a clear and concise way.
During the submission, all supplementary figures or tables must be combined into a single PDF file, except for the audio or video files. Each figure should include a brief title and legend, and each table should contain a brief title. In addition, we also accept the following formats of supplementary files:
• MS Excel spreadsheet (.xls, .xlsx)
• QuickTime movie (.mov)
• Audio file (.wav)
• MPEG/MPG animation (.mpg, .mp4, .mp3)
To ensure that the Supplementary Information can be quickly downloaded, each file should be compressed as much as possible. To be specific, the size of each file should not be larger than 30 MB, and audio and video files should use a frame size no larger than 320240 pixels.
To facilitate the readability, we encourage the authors to include a catalogue on the front page of the Supplementary Information. If there are audio and video files, they should also be listed in this catalogue. For all supplementary equations and figures, they should be renumbered, instead of continuing the numbering from the last equation/figure listed in the main text. For all supplementary references, they should also be renumbered, except that they have been cited in the main text.
Any query about the preparation or submission of the Supplementary Information can be directed to work@jpier.org.
